QwikTune QTGP1 Guitar Professor Tuner & Chordfinder Details;
Qwik Tune, famed
for their range of innovative tuners and metronomes, have an ultra-neat new tuner unit
out, called the ‘Guitar Professor’. Not only is this beauty a fully chromatic tuner, the
large LCD screen offers a ‘chord finder’ facility too, more of which in a minute.
Tuners are always good news, and the Guitar Professor version features the almost
standard Qwik Tune readout format of a swinging
LCD needle onscreen, guided by opposing
direction arrows and a central green light for
‘in tune’ status. Simple and effective – there
is also a pitch pipe tone reference for tuning
by ear if so desired.
Now for the ‘chord finder’, where on-screen
TAB-style grid reference is accessed by
three buttons for ‘chord’, ‘maj/min’ and
‘7th-9th’ along the base rim of the tuner’s fascia.
This useful facility allows you to access a chord structure on
screen, then its major and minor derivations, whilst the 7th and 9th option
displays diminished, augmented and suspended chords
– a particularly useful reference indeed. Unless you’re
a theory-bound, guitar-playing jazz head, you are not
going to have all this info flying around in your head!
At only £13.99 rrp, the Qwik Tune Guitar Professor is a
neat chord mini-encyclopedia with a tuner. Cool!
