What is the difference between a high-end production guitar and a Custom Shop model?

High-end production guitars (such as PRS Core Custom 24 or Gibson USA Standard) utilize advanced CNC precision combined with hand-finishing in standard production runs. Custom Shop models feature lower batch volumes, hand-selected tonewoods, custom hand-wound pickups, period-accurate construction, and master luthier voicing.

Why should I avoid drop-shipped high-end electric guitars?

Drop-shipped guitars are dispatched directly from logistics warehouses without unboxing or inspection. Without a bench inspection and 5-point setup by an in-house guitar technician, you risk receiving an unplayable instrument affected by climate shifts during storage and transit.

What does MusicStreet's 5-point setup include?

Every instrument sold through MusicStreet undergoes a comprehensive 5-point bench inspection: truss rod and neck relief calibration, nut slot depth check, bridge radius and intonation alignment, pickup height and electronic circuit testing, and fretboard conditioning.

Can I try boutique and custom shop guitars in person at MusicStreet?

Yes. MusicStreet operates a showroom at 10 Chequers Court, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where players can test premium PRS, Fender, and Gibson models through high-end amplifiers in a dedicated testing environment.

Fender Telecaster Buyer’s Guide: Series & Specification Comparison

2. Telecaster Pickup Configurations & Tonal Flavors

Traditional SS (Single-Single): The quintessential Telecaster sound. Features a high-output baseplate bridge pickup for signature bite and an articulate, bell-like neck pickup.
SH (Neck Humbucker / Bridge Single-Coil): Delivers the best of both worlds—creamy Keith Richards rock crunch in the neck while retaining full bridge twang.
Deluxe HH & Custom Thinline (Dual Wide Range Humbuckers): High-output warmth with semi-hollow acoustic resonance, ideal for indie rock, shoegaze, and heavy power chords.

Frequently Asked Questions: Fender Telecaster

What is the main tonal difference between a Fender Telecaster and a Stratocaster?

The Telecaster features a solid steel bridge plate with a metal-baseplate bridge pickup, producing a punchier, thicker, and more resonant low-end twang compared to the softer, spring-reverberated "quack" of a Stratocaster's 3-pickup tremolo setup.

Why do some Telecasters have 3 bridge saddles while others have 6?

Traditional 3-saddle vintage bridges pair two strings per brass/steel barrel for classic sustain and snap. Modern 6-saddle bridges give each string its own independent saddle for microscopic intonation adjustments across all 22 frets.

What is the difference between Fender Player II and American Professional II Telecasters?

Player II Telecasters (crafted in Mexico) feature Alnico V pickups and a modern 'C' neck with rolled fingerboard edges. American Pro II Telecasters (USA-crafted) add V-Mod II pickups with treble bleed, a sculpted neck heel for higher fret access, compensated brass saddles, and an included deluxe hardshell case.

Are Telecasters suitable for rock and metal?

Yes. The bridge pickup of a Telecaster cuts through high-gain distortion with exceptional clarity and punch. Dual-humbucker Deluxe and HH models are also widely used for hard rock and heavy metal.
