What is the difference between a high-end production guitar and a Custom Shop model?

High-end production guitars (such as PRS Core Custom 24 or Gibson USA Standard) utilize advanced CNC precision combined with hand-finishing in standard production runs. Custom Shop models feature lower batch volumes, hand-selected tonewoods, custom hand-wound pickups, period-accurate construction, and master luthier voicing.

Why should I avoid drop-shipped high-end electric guitars?

Drop-shipped guitars are dispatched directly from logistics warehouses without unboxing or inspection. Without a bench inspection and 5-point setup by an in-house guitar technician, you risk receiving an unplayable instrument affected by climate shifts during storage and transit.

What does MusicStreet's 5-point setup include?

Every instrument sold through MusicStreet undergoes a comprehensive 5-point bench inspection: truss rod and neck relief calibration, nut slot depth check, bridge radius and intonation alignment, pickup height and electronic circuit testing, and fretboard conditioning.

Can I try boutique and custom shop guitars in person at MusicStreet?

Yes. MusicStreet operates a showroom at 10 Chequers Court, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where players can test premium PRS, Fender, and Gibson models through high-end amplifiers in a dedicated testing environment.

Gibson SG Standard '61 Electric Guitar - Vintage Cherry

£1,899.00

The Gibson SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry Electric Guitar pays homage to the original "Solid Guitar". For over half a century, these powerful, rock-style instruments have been the preferred guitar of many musicians across the globe.

Vintage-Style Iconic Rock Guitar

Due to waning sales of the Les Paul guitar during 1960 and 1961, Gibson developed the new "Solid Guitar" to give players something new. Despite a number of evolutions over the ensuing decades, the original-spec 1961 SG is still considered by many to be the best.

Which is exactly why the Gibson SG Standard '61 is here! This gorgeous guitar features the same aesthetics, construction speccs, and tone as those original-era models.

Rock Solid Construction

In true SG style, this Gibson SG Standard 61 is crafted from a solid piece of Mahogany, and expertly shaped to offer a supremely comfortably playing experience. The dual cutaway "horns" - in addition to looking great - offer you easy access to each and every note on the fretboard.

Fitted to the body is a sleek, solid Mahogany neck, with a slim-taper profile that offers a comfortable playing experience, whatever your play-style. Sitting atop this neck is a bound Rosewood fingerboard, with vintage-style acrylic Trapezoid inlays.

Vintage Voice

In an effort to deliver those classic Gibson SG tones, this guitar has been fitted with a set of Burstbucker 61 pickups. These pickups offer you that vintage, early-60s PAF-like tone, but with extra power and top end, for a superb, hard-rocking voice.

In addition to this, each pickup has independent Volume and Tone control pots, give you access to a huge array of tones to play around with.
