USED - 1932 Martin 1-17 Parlour Acoustic Guitar
Here we have an amazing piece of history right here in our store!
This beautiful 1932 Martin 1-17 comes with a mid 60's hardcase. The tuners have been changed at some point, the bridge and nut are replacement but both bone.
There are cracks around the body but they have been repaired professionally. Inside the case there is a sheet with the repair work carried out by the repairman at the time
Do not be put off by this guitars small size. Not only does it pack serious sweet tone, it is one of the loudest we've heard ever in here!
The guitar also comes with a letter from Mike Longworth explaining to the owner at the time that the guitar is genuine and was stamped on the 17th march 1932. Mike Longworth was a long time employee from Martin guitars form the mid 60's onwards who wrote the first few books on the Martin history. He was responsible for starting the Martin archives which is now the job of Dick Boak. He also had a lot to do with the start up of Martin's custom shop and did a lot of Inlay work for artist such as Johnny Cash.
This letter also tells of how much the guitar would have cost with it's case in 1932, which was $25! This letter is very important to Martin's legacy as Mike Longworth sadly passed away in 1996. This letter was written in 1993.
A real special piece of history for the next owner and for Martin guitars.
