The primary difference is the body shape and size. The FG (Folk Guitar) is a Traditional Western dreadnought with a deeper body and broader lower bout, producing greater low-end acoustic volume and projection for strumming. The FS (Folk Small) is a Concert-sized acoustic with a slimmer waist, shallower depth, and shorter 25" scale length, making it more comfortable to hold and providing faster transient response for fingerpicking.

Yamaha TransAcoustic guitars feature a specialized electromagnetic actuator installed on the inside surface of the guitar back. When you play a string, the pickup sends the vibration to the actuator, which in turn physically vibrates the entire guitar body. The guitar’s own soundboard and air chamber amplify the wet reverb and chorus effects naturally out of the soundhole with zero cables or external speakers required.

A.R.E. is Yamaha's patented wood-aging technology. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular structure of the solid Engelmann spruce soundboard is manipulated to match the acoustic properties of wood that has naturally aged over decades. This results in richer low-end warmth, increased acoustic sustain, and sweet harmonic overtones right from day one.

Yes. The Yamaha FG800 is widely recognized as the industry benchmark for entry-to-intermediate acoustic guitars. Unlike many budget acoustics that use laminate tops, the FG800 features a solid Sitka spruce top and scalloped bracing, delivering rich acoustic projection, dynamic touch response, and exceptional long-term tuning stability at an accessible price point.
