The "Third Amp" Revolution: Desktop Modeling & VCM Technology
Historically, guitarists had two choices: a large, heavy stage rig or a small, boxy practice amp that sucked the life out of their tone. Yamaha revolutionized the industry by introducing the THR series as the "third amp." These desktop units are not scaled-down stage amps; they are custom-engineered systems designed to sound incredible at low volumes, utilizing Yamaha's award-winning Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) and hi-fi stereo technology.
For acoustic players, this means access to highly realistic microphone simulations (including condenser, dynamic, tube, and nylon-string settings) that recreate the complex acoustic resonance of a professionally mic'd instrument in a world-class studio. Combined with studio-grade effects (reverb, chorus, and delay), rechargeable batteries, and seamless USB connectivity for direct recording, the THR series is the ultimate modern practice and recording tool.
