What is the difference between a high-end production guitar and a Custom Shop model?

High-end production guitars (such as PRS Core Custom 24 or Gibson USA Standard) utilize advanced CNC precision combined with hand-finishing in standard production runs. Custom Shop models feature lower batch volumes, hand-selected tonewoods, custom hand-wound pickups, period-accurate construction, and master luthier voicing.

Why should I avoid drop-shipped high-end electric guitars?

Drop-shipped guitars are dispatched directly from logistics warehouses without unboxing or inspection. Without a bench inspection and 5-point setup by an in-house guitar technician, you risk receiving an unplayable instrument affected by climate shifts during storage and transit.

What does MusicStreet's 5-point setup include?

Every instrument sold through MusicStreet undergoes a comprehensive 5-point bench inspection: truss rod and neck relief calibration, nut slot depth check, bridge radius and intonation alignment, pickup height and electronic circuit testing, and fretboard conditioning.

Can I try boutique and custom shop guitars in person at MusicStreet?

Yes. MusicStreet operates a showroom at 10 Chequers Court, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where players can test premium PRS, Fender, and Gibson models through high-end amplifiers in a dedicated testing environment.

The iconic Marine Band

The Marine Band harmonica from Hohner was first introduced in 1896 and its impact is impossible to overstate. Countless musicians were attracted to this instrument due to its accessible price and pocketable size, making it the perfect harp for musicians on the move. The unique "wailing" sound produced from bending notes played a key role in establishing the sound of blues harmonica playing.

Over the years Hohner has made other harps in the Marine Band range, each designed to cater for the different needs of musicians. The classic 1896 harmonica is for those who want the original design invented in 1896. The Deluxe is for musicians looking for that classic sound and design, but with alterations from the 21st century. If you want that Marine Band sound for a more contemporary style of music, then the Crossover is the harp for you. Finally, the Thunderbird is for players wanting a deeper sound.

About Hohner

Founded in 1857 by clockmaker Matthias Hohner, Hohner has become a household name in the world of harmonicas. With a strong presence in the United States, the company quickly gained popularity among harmonica players. In the 1920s, Hohner expanded their range by introducing chromatic harmonicas, allowing musicians to access all 12 notes without the need for bending. Today, Hohner remains a top choice for harmonicas, offering a wide selection that caters to players of all genres. Along with harmonicas, the company also produces melodicas, a similar instrument that uses a keyboard for producing notes. At Musicstreet, we proudly offer a diverse range of Hohner harmonicas.
