Contemporary Defender collaboration


Developed in collaboration with John Mayer and Defender, this limited-edition SE Silver Sky brings a distinctive new visual identity to a familiar player-focused design. PRS and Mayer selected contemporary Defender finishes from a palette spanning decades of colour history, pairing each with black plastics for the first time on a Silver Sky model. The result keeps the established feel, response, and playability of the SE Silver Sky while adding a modern presentation shaped by automotive inspiration, individuality, and purposeful design.

Vintage-inspired single-coil tones


Three 635JM "S" single-coil pickups form the tonal core of this SE Silver Sky Defender. Designed to PRS specifications, they deliver a full, warm, vintage-inspired voice with a musical high end that avoids becoming brash. A five-way blade switch gives access to the available pickup combinations, while one volume and two tone controls provide familiar adjustment. This straightforward layout supports quick changes on stage or at home, keeping the instrument responsive and easy to navigate across a wide range of playing situations.

Responsive tremolo and hardware


The PRS 2-Point Steel Tremolo combines comfortable tremolo functionality with exceptional tuning stability through a classic two-point mounting system. It gives the SE Silver Sky Defender a responsive bridge setup that complements its player-focused design. Vintage-style closed-back tuners are engineered to promote resonance, while nickel hardware and a synthetic bone nut complete the hardware specification. Together, these elements provide a practical, familiar setup that supports confident everyday use while staying aligned with the established feel and response of the Silver Sky platform.

Established Silver Sky playability


A maple neck with the 635JM shape gives this model its established Silver Sky profile, paired with a rosewood fretboard and 8.5" radius. The 25.5" scale length, 22 PRS medium frets, and bolt-on construction complete the core playing specification, while Small Birds add recognisable PRS detailing. The guitar also includes a custom neck plate unique to the run and a custom PRS/Land Rover gig bag, reinforcing the limited-edition presentation without changing the player-focused character at the heart of the instrument.
