His favoured Supro guitars were vintage 60s Supro Dual Tones, which he bought in New York in 2003. Having customised his guitar to his specifications, he used the Supro to record and play live, and it has become a part of both his image and his sound. Sparkling tones

It sounds like stardust. If you're looking for that bright, sparkling tone which appears on so many of Bowie's songs, then you'll find this guitar can easily recreate it. The Supro Vistatone pickups have a distinctive tone, reminiscent of the 1950s models that they're based on. They emit a bright, jangly single-coil sound which has more than enough clarity and power to excite your ears. Working perfectly in unison, they sound great with clean tones as well as grittier, overdriven sound, and anything in between.

The pickup selector allows you to change between the neck and bridge positions, so you can access different tones rapidly. The bridge pickup has a slightly higher output, and is perfect for chords and rhythm playing. The neck pickup will give your lead playing some serious shine, giving your higher notes some more fatness and definition. Once you hear the richness and fullness of each pickup, you'll find plenty of inspiration to write your own beautiful music.

Gleaming with greatness. The Supro David Bowie comes complete with a wonderful mahogany body. Emitting a balanced tone, it is a dynamic wood which has plenty of resonance, and it complements the Vistatone pickups exceptionally well. It will allow you to use this guitar for virtually any style, be it rock, pop, blues, or anything else. And you'll always sound stellar.

The neck is made from maple, which gives the guitar a little more brightness. This is complemented by a pau ferro fretboard, which is not only comfortable and resonant, but also robust and able to handle as much playing as you can throw at it. You'll find that you can easily manoeuvre up and down the neck with the smooth set-neck design, which lets you comfortably access the higher frets. The body also has a tummy cut for further increased comfort, so you'll find that it naturally fits with each part of your body.
