Nothing sounds like a Pro Reverb. Now Fender has pushed its versatility to the max. The Fender 68 Custom Pro Reverb provides the lush, creamy sound of a Pro Reverb, with all the flexibility today's performer requires. Loud enough for any stage, 40 watts of pure tube power course through the pair of 6L6 output valves, while 4 12AX7 input tubes sprinkle everything from chiming cleans to gritty overdrive with that unmistakable Fender magic.
Perfect portability. Ideal for the busy, jobbing guitarist, the '68 Custom's lightweight, 12" Celestion NEO Creamback speaker and reduced-size enclosure still throw out all the thick, luscious sound you need. And what would a Pro Reverb be without a world-class, tube-driven reverb to turn the atmosphere up to 11? Add a classic, grid-bias tremolo circuit, eye-catching 'Silverface' styling, and an included, vintage-style footswitch, and you've got a seriously versatile, gig-ready amp that's both powerful and practical.
The sound of a generation. The Celestion Creamback is one of guitar's most celebrated amp speakers. From Hendrix and Clapton, to Beck and Page, players on the heavier end of blues and rock made this speaker the sound of the 70's. Sonically, the G12 NEO Creamback covers every base, with a round, singing midrange, powerful lows and a subtle-yet-present treble. Its Neodymium magnet is only half the weight of its traditional, ceramic counterpart, making the '68 Custom Pro Reverb ideal for musicians rushing from gig to gig, who still want a full-on Fender tube amp tone.
It's all in the details. In an amp this size (and weight!) certain aspects of Fender's larger models simply wouldn't work. One of those is a tube rectifier, which would add significant weight. To get around this without settling for a modern, solid-state rectifier type tone, Fender cleverly modified the power transformer to apply just enough of that tube rectifier "sag" to give the '68 Custom Pro Reverb the same, musical feel as its forefathers.
Likewise, the negative feedback circuit, applied to all amps in order to keep the tone crystal clear, has been reduced in this '68 model. This boosts the effective gain, and allows for a chunky, hyper-touch-sensitive feel that brings your guitar parts to life. From the specific selection of tubes, to the expertise of its construction, the '68 Pro Reverb is a masterclass in the "less is more" mantra.
