What is the difference between a high-end production guitar and a Custom Shop model?

High-end production guitars (such as PRS Core Custom 24 or Gibson USA Standard) utilize advanced CNC precision combined with hand-finishing in standard production runs. Custom Shop models feature lower batch volumes, hand-selected tonewoods, custom hand-wound pickups, period-accurate construction, and master luthier voicing.

Why should I avoid drop-shipped high-end electric guitars?

Drop-shipped guitars are dispatched directly from logistics warehouses without unboxing or inspection. Without a bench inspection and 5-point setup by an in-house guitar technician, you risk receiving an unplayable instrument affected by climate shifts during storage and transit.

What does MusicStreet's 5-point setup include?

Every instrument sold through MusicStreet undergoes a comprehensive 5-point bench inspection: truss rod and neck relief calibration, nut slot depth check, bridge radius and intonation alignment, pickup height and electronic circuit testing, and fretboard conditioning.

Can I try boutique and custom shop guitars in person at MusicStreet?

Yes. MusicStreet operates a showroom at 10 Chequers Court, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where players can test premium PRS, Fender, and Gibson models through high-end amplifiers in a dedicated testing environment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Charvel Guitars

Are all Charvel guitars set up before dispatch?

Yes. Every Charvel guitar purchased from MusicStreet receives a professional bench setup in our Huntingdon workshop. We inspect neck relief, set comfortable low action, balance Floyd Rose or Gotoh tremolos, and verify intonation so your instrument plays effortlessly straight from the box.

What is the difference between the Charvel San Dimas and So-Cal series?

The primary difference is pickup mounting and pickguard styling. San Dimas models feature direct-mounted pickups with no pickguard for maximum body resonance and sleek aesthetics, loaded with Seymour Duncan JB/'59 pairings. So-Cal models feature classic pickguard-mounted pickups, typically loaded with higher-output Seymour Duncan Distortion or Fishman Fluence sets.

Why are caramelized (roasted) maple necks used on the DK24?

Caramelizing (roasting) the maple in an oxygen-free kiln removes moisture and natural impurities. This makes the neck exceptionally stable and resistant to UK seasonal humidity shifts, while imparting a smooth, satin feel and rich vintage resonance.

Can I trade in or part-exchange my old guitar against a new Charvel?

Yes. We offer fair part-exchange valuations against new and pre-owned gear. Bring your guitar or amp to our Huntingdon store or contact our sales team online with photographs and specifications for a prompt quote.

What warranty and shipping protection is included?

All Charvel guitars include full manufacturer warranty coverage combined with MusicStreet’s 1-year in-house warranty and ongoing workshop support. Free courier delivery is included across mainland UK on all orders over £99.
