Mahogany topped with flame maple:

PRS began by choosing the tried-and-true combination of high-quality mahogany topped with stunning flame maple. This combination gives this PRS Santana a rich yet balanced sound. The mahogany back delivers the natural tonal warmth and mid-focused tone that guitarists clamor for. And the brighter tone of the maple top adds clarity and sustain with a strong fundamental. Santana pickups

PRS guitars have been applauded for their Santana Treble and Bass pickups for years. These pickups - designed in collaboration with Carlos - have helped pave the way toward the warm, singing sound that is his instantly identifiable trademark. The Santana humbuckers are very detailed in the high end, but exude a fat and warm bottom with seemingly unending sustain. The PRS Santana is built for melodic playing. Thanks to its larger 11.5" radius and shorter 24.5" scale, the strings have a fantastic feel under your fingers, and wide vibrato and large string bends come effortlessly. And the Santana neck profile's round, but not-too-substantial, feel is comfortable all the way up and down the neck. Sweetwater has seen a lot of Santanas come through our doors over the years, and we attribute that to how beautifully they all play.
