What is the difference between a high-end production guitar and a Custom Shop model?

High-end production guitars (such as PRS Core Custom 24 or Gibson USA Standard) utilize advanced CNC precision combined with hand-finishing in standard production runs. Custom Shop models feature lower batch volumes, hand-selected tonewoods, custom hand-wound pickups, period-accurate construction, and master luthier voicing.

Why should I avoid drop-shipped high-end electric guitars?

Drop-shipped guitars are dispatched directly from logistics warehouses without unboxing or inspection. Without a bench inspection and 5-point setup by an in-house guitar technician, you risk receiving an unplayable instrument affected by climate shifts during storage and transit.

What does MusicStreet's 5-point setup include?

Every instrument sold through MusicStreet undergoes a comprehensive 5-point bench inspection: truss rod and neck relief calibration, nut slot depth check, bridge radius and intonation alignment, pickup height and electronic circuit testing, and fretboard conditioning.

Can I try boutique and custom shop guitars in person at MusicStreet?

Yes. MusicStreet operates a showroom at 10 Chequers Court, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where players can test premium PRS, Fender, and Gibson models through high-end amplifiers in a dedicated testing environment.

Humbucker vs. P90: Which Revstar Voicing Fits Your Style?

One of the standout qualities of the Revstar Standard series is the choice between standard humbucking models (RSS20) and single-coil P90 models (RSS02T):

▸ Revstar VH5 Humbuckers: Feature warm, articulate lows, pronounced midrange punch, and clear top end. Ideal for modern rock, hard blues, fusion, and high-gain studio tones.
▸ Revstar VP5 P90 Single Coils: Combine the crisp bite and dynamic responsiveness of single-coil pickups with rich lower-mid grunt. Paired with the custom aluminum racing tailpiece, they provide unmistakable vintage chime, roots rock grit, and expressive blues tone.
▸ Signature Model Spotlight: For fingerstyle and fusion players, the Yamaha RSS20MM Matteo Mancuso Signature delivers ultra-responsive dynamic sensitivity and custom switching options.

Frequently Asked Questions: Buying a Yamaha Revstar

Are Yamaha Revstar guitars suitable for all musical genres?

Yes. With the onboard 5-way selector switch and the push/pull Focus Switch (or Dry Switch on Element models), Revstar guitars can navigate everything from pristine funk and jazz cleans to gritty indie rhythm and searing lead rock tones.

Does MusicStreet set up Yamaha Revstar guitars before shipping?

Yes. Every single guitar at MusicStreet undergoes a professional in-house workshop setup by experienced guitar techs prior to dispatch. We check fret leveling, set neck relief, optimize string action, and test electronics so your Revstar plays perfectly right out of the box.

What is the difference between the Focus Switch and the Dry Switch?

The Dry Switch (found on Element RSE20 models) is a passive high-pass filter that cleans up low-end mud without adding hum. The Focus Switch (found on Standard and Professional models) is a passive transformer-based circuit that boosts low-mids and rolls off extreme highs, simulating overwound pickups and providing an instant lead boost.

Are left-handed Yamaha Revstar models available?

Yes, Yamaha produces left-handed versions in select finishes (such as the RSE20L and RSS20L). Check our collection filters or contact our team on 01480 431222 to check immediate showroom availability.
