Sonic Versatility, Enviable Style, Effortless Playability

When it comes to purchasing a professional-grade instrument, whether it's a workhorse that you want to take on tour and play night after night, or whether it's something that would be perfect exclusively for studio sessions, the three things I tend to look for are Playability (How comfortable is it? What play styles does it suit? etc.), Sonic Versatility (How does it sound? Would it work for some songs but not others?) and Style (How does it look?).

With that in mind, after play-testing the new PRS CE24's I can honestly say that I can't think of a reason not to buy it. It's supremely comfortable to play (with the thin pattern neck and ergonomic curvature of the body), sounds incredible (the coil-tapped 85/15 pickups give you a vast array of crystal-clear tones to choose from) and looks simply sublime (that Satin Nitro finish with the faded "burst" staining is my personal favourite finish on any PRS that I've seen). This guitar is most certainly on my "To Buy" list, and whether you're a PRS Enthusiast or keen guitar-player looking to splash out on a sound financial investment it should be on yours too! Body

The solid mahogany body of the PRS CE24 lends bags of warmth to the snap and response that comes from the bolt-on neck construction, and the unique wood grain characteristics of the shallow carved maple top gives the guitar an incredibly striking finish, especially when combined with the Faded Scarlet Sunburst wood stain. The mahogany body has been toned to match the colour of the top, but the back retains it's natural finish.

The Pattern Thin Neck is one of my personal favourite guitar necks to play, adding a level of comfort that is sometimes missing from thinner guitar necks. The neck itself is perfect for a variety of different playing styles, and the ebony fretboard with bird inlays adds that little extra class to the overall finish of the instrument.

The Phase II tuning machine heads from PRS are of a locking design, and help to preserve the guitar's tuning integrity whilst you play. Combined with the incredible PRS Patented Tremolo bridge, you can add a range of shimmers or divebombs to your playing without having to re-tune in between songs.

The 85/15 Humbuckers on the PRS CE24 are a modern redesign of the original Custom 24 pickups of the famous 1980's PRS models. Even in Humbucker mode they offer you an incredible choice of tones to play around with, but once you Pull the tone pot it activates the single coil circuit giving you plenty more options for your performance.
